Kelvin Taylor didn’t make the 49ers’ 53-man roster, but he’ll remain in San Francisco.
Taylor, a running back from Florida whom the 49ers chose in the sixth round of the NFL draft, cleared waivers today and was signed to the 49ers’ practice squad.
The son of longtime NFL running back Fred Taylor, Kelvin Taylor has been a highly regarded running back since high school, when he broke Emmitt Smith’s state rushing record. Now he’ll spend some time learning Chip Kelly’s offense.
The 49ers signed eight other players who were in training camp with the team to the practice squad: WR Dres Anderson, OL Alex Balducci, OL Fahn Cooper, TE Je’Ron Hamm, CB Prince Charles Iworah, OL Norman Price, LB Marcus Rush and LB Shayne Skov.
