Colts sign Akeem Ayers

The Colts made a roster swap Tuesday, adding linebacker Akeem Ayers and cutting cornerback Neiko Thorpe.

Ayers played last season for the Rams and was cut last weekend. A second-round pick of the Titans in 2011, he played in Tennessee until being traded to the Patriots in 2014.

Ayers, who played in all 16 games and started 10 for the Rams last season, could be an immediate contributor for the Colts.

The release of Thorpe would seem to be a good sign for the availability of cornerback Darius Butler for Sunday’s season opener vs. the Lions. The Colts have been hit hard by injuries at cornerback over the last several weeks and will be without top cornerback Vontae Davis until at least October.

Thorpe was just signed by the Colts over the weekend.

The Colts also announced that they’ve added undrafted rookie cornerback Frankie Williams to their practice squad.

So he played great for the Patriots but was bad for the rams?

The Colt’s sure like to bring in former Patriot’s. I guess they are trying to figure out how they blow the Colt’s out whenever they play them. That excludes the Suck for Luck losing streak endorsed by Bill Polian(never mind pumped in crowd noise)!
A lesson for Colt’s fans, you know how the balls were reinflated and Brady blew your team out in the second half of the made up deflategate game. Here is the lesson. The home team controls the footballs and the Patriot’s ball boys do not travel with the team. How come they kept blowing you out when they played you in Indianapolis over the years? Hang a participation banner and make some cell phone cupcakes while you try to explain children.

This guy is a pretty good player. The Rams are loaded on their front seven, so this was a great opportunity to pick up a good talent for free. This kid could be wearing a super bowl ring soon.
