Andrew Luck listed as limited by right shoulder in practice

One of the prevailing themes of the Colts offseason was the need to keep quarterback Andrew Luck on the field after an injury-filled 2015 season that saw the Colts miss the playoffs for the first time since drafting Luck first overall in the 2012 draft.

Given that focus, it was hard to miss Luck’s name on the Colts’ crowded practice report on Wednesday. Luck was listed as limited in practice with his right shoulder given as the reason for less than full participation.

Luck has been running the first team at Colts practices since the start of offseason work and there’s been no sign of any shoulder issue before Wednesday. Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reports that Luck looked fine while throwing during the portion of practice open to the media and the Colts website says he “will be on the field” against the Lions this weekend.

Despite that, coach Chuck Pagano will certainly be asked about the listing the next time he talks to the media and Luck’s status in Thursday’s practice will be watched closely for any other signs that things are less than 100 percent for the most important player on Indy’s offense.

    Let the Luck excuses begin.

Built in excuse for the upcoming 3 picks.

Probably just a strain from throwing properly inflated footballs. With enough hard work and muscle growth he might make the playoffs this year!

Uh-oh…seems like arm fatigue is a communicable disease this season

  6. redclaw1314 says: Sep 7, 2016 5:09 PM

Colts have been known to play games with injury reports

As the Colts are obviously not required to fully disclose Luck’s injuries it is mighty big of them to do so.

At least they put it on the injury list, unlike last year when the Colts failed to list his fractured ribs. No surprise there was no punishment from the NFL for that infraction. Double standard as usual.

Whether or not he is hurt already it’s just a matter of time. They still didn’t get him enough protection this year. One good player in the draft that’s it. It’s really a shame because this is a truly great QB that just doesn’t get a chance because his GM hangs him out to dry.

    Tough Luck…

Yeah probably just playing games with the injury report like they are known for around the league

Yeah the Colts git a pass on that but they were entitled to it. Goodell owed them big time for favors earned. Frankly he still owes them.

First game and the Colts are already playing with the injury report.

Bad luck once again, thank goodness he has a good business career ahead of him.

  15. thegreatgabbert says: Sep 7, 2016 5:29 PM

He’s been limited by his right arm and shoulder his whole career.

Why couldn’t this have happened before my fantasy draft?

  17. marima07 says: Sep 7, 2016 6:10 PM

Where does he get off trying to be Tom Brady?

She should shave his magical beard and his shoulder will be just fine after that.

  19. jmethane says: Sep 7, 2016 7:29 PM

Wow, this is heading toward bust territory. He better turn it around on the field in a hurry.

Forget Russell Wilson that is over. RGIII might end up being better than luck if he gets it going again.

As a Lions’ fan, I’ll say it:
“Good thing they’ve got Detroit Sunday.”

Okay, Kitties, now go make me eat my words.

And yet two yard tom brady is in awe of honest sportsmanship!

Luck is clearly the most overrated player in the NFL. But don’t worry, Ansah will be testing that shoulder a few times on Sunday.
