Bosa calls injury “frustrating,” but McCoy won’t officially rule him out

Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has not yet practiced in pads, so it’s highly doubtful he’ll be ready to make his NFL debut Sunday afternoon when the Chargers open the season in Kansas City.

Because coaches will be coaches, Chargers coach Mike McCoy still won’t rule Bosa out for Sunday. He won’t rule him in, either.

Only time will tell,” McCoy said Wednesday, per the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Because you know what? I’m not going to tell.”

Bosa, who missed more than a month of camp and the whole preseason while his reps and the Chargers battled over contract language, is dealing with a soft tissue injury. McCoy has called Bosa’s issue “tightness.”

Bosa was not listed on the first injury report of the season Wednesday because he’s still under a roster exemption and not officially on the Chargers’ 53-man roster. When he talked to reporters Wednesday, Bosa said it’s “frustrating and annoying” that he’s injured and likely to be unavailable for Sunday.

This guy hasn’t even practiced yet and he’s hurt?! Watt he is not. #bust

This happens EVERY time a guy holds out! His agent should be shot. The deal he got could have been done the day after the draft!

    I smell a bust!

In other words he may not play because of a bruise !

I have seen 7th graders grow better mustaches than this loser!

The agent should give back whatever he/she/they are making off of Bosa and then stop being agents. He’s been put an entire season behind where he should be. A bust for now; hopefully next year he’ll be worth the trouble.

Others would call it a boo boo.

Maybe his mama can get in there and play DE for the Chargers. She seems to be tougher than her baby boy.

Too many guys try to play through muscle tightness end up pulling a hammy or worse and end up missing 6 weeks or more. They are finally learning to listen to their bodies and not cause more injury. I have seen it over and over. Ignore it and try to play thru it and down you go. See you in October, or November, son.

    Who didn’t see this coming?

So SD didn’t want to pay the guy a fortune. I wonder why? From my unbiased view it seemed like SD was being cheap. Now the dud’s…er…dude’s already missing a game because of a “soft-tissue” injury? That’s weak. Missing at least his first game because of a holdout? Very lame, Bosa. You lose.

Chargers could of prevented all of this. We knew it was going to happen.

Nobody to blame but yourself. Ok maybe 15% of the blame goes to your agent….

Soft tissue injuries a.k.a. “tightness” =

    – Not stretching enough
    – Eating crap
    – Not drinking enough water and/or drinking too much of everything else
    – Jacked to the moon on roids

Nothing I have seen or heard about Bosa makes me think that at least 3 of these 4 conditions are not in play. Ream on Chargers mgmt for not getting a deal done if you want, but it is very clear he did not hold up his end of the bargain either in terms of taking care of himself during the holdout.

So the Vikings do what they have to do to hire away another team’s starting QB to help deliver a good product to their fans, but the Chargers split hairs with their top draft pick and don’t even have him ready to play to start the season.

This is why everyone’s picking the other three AFC West teams to win the division.

    Not gonna tell???

Does Coach think anyone is “game planning” for Bosa?

  21. steelpenguin6687 says: Sep 8, 2016 12:01 AM

Are we gonna be on “anthem watch” for every game now?

  22. pittsburghdamned says: Sep 8, 2016 12:30 AM

Bingo. We all knew he’d be injured from lack of conditioning.
Luckily for him the Chargers consider 7-9 a successful season anyway.
Not that anyone in San Diego cares about the team.

  23. wolfman55h says: Sep 8, 2016 7:16 AM

And the Chargers wonder why half of San Diego doesn’t care if they leave? Their organization is Cleveland – with much nicer weather.

  24. jjackwagon says: Sep 9, 2016 11:46 AM

Over/under for the Chargers is 4.5 games with or without Bosa. I’ll take the under.

  25. icanspeel says: Sep 10, 2016 3:53 PM

Almost makes me wonder if he was hurt and purposely stayed out as long as he could to avoid training camp and try to heal.
