While no charges have been brought up on Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott for alleged domestic violence, Mike Florio explains that he isn't out of the woods yet.

Credit Stacy Elliott with the scoop.

After the father of Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott declared his son’s innocence yesterday afternoon, the actual authorities followed suit.

Via Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN.com, the Columbus (Ohio) City Attorney’s Office announced it had declined to pursue charges against Elliott in an alleged domestic violence incident from July.

They said they declined to press charges because of “conflicting and inconsistent information” in the case involving his ex-girlfriend. Elliott was said to be cooperative in their investigation (and they didn’t even have to invoke Article 46 to make him that way). It also said Elliott was cooperative in the investigation and offered up affidavits and photographs to support his case.

He’s still subject to league review, and the NFL has punished players for conduct policy violations without arrests.

Elliott’s attorney, Frank C. Salzano, said his client is “looking forward to putting this behind him and continuing his focus on all things positive, both on and off the field.”

The on-field part begins Sunday against the Giants.
