Vikings guard on quarterback Hill: “We have total faith in Shaun”

It remains to be seen who the Vikings will start at QB in Week 1, but Mike Florio thinks they should go with Shaun Hill over the recently-acquired Sam Bradford.

When Vikings guard Alex Boone made reference to the quarterback who’d likely start this week, he wasn’t so much spilling the beans as underlining how far down the pecking order any Vikings quarterback will be in the order of most important members of their offense.

While Shaun Hill remains listed as their starter while they teach Sam Bradford their offense, the Vikings know that their success against the Titans and all season depends on how well they block for running back Adrian Peterson. That, more than the identity of any quarterback, will determine their outcome.

“I think all the pressure is on us,” Boone said, via Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “We have total faith in Shaun. But given the circumstances, we know the pressure comes down on the line. So we have to kick [Tennessee’s] butt in the run game and let Adrian do his thing.”

That will be the case regardless the opponent, but Boone’s casual reference to Hill starting seemed to be a matter-of-fact recognition that it would be difficult for Bradford to get ready to quickly after arriving from Philadelphia.
