Cam Newton breaks more records, gives Panthers the lead

The Panthers have the lead back, and Cam Newton has more records.

They went up 14-7 on the Broncos in the second quarter when Newton ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

It marked the 32nd game of his career with a rushing and passing touchdown in the same game, breaking the record of 31 previously held by Steve Young.

Young played in 169 NFL games, to Newton’s 79.

It was also Newton’s 44th total rushing touchdown, again eclipsing Young’s 43 as the most since the 1970 merger.

The most impressive part of the drive might have been the way it chewed up most of the second quarter, an 18-play, 89-yard march that occupied 9:15 of game clock. The Panthers are willing to play a physical style with the Broncos, who have played well enough despite a pair of scoring opportunities that ended in turnovers.

Cam achieved twice Young’s results in less than half the games. Impressive. Let’s see how many other QB records he breaks. Good start so far against a solid defense.

Man crazy how the comments on this one have stopped. Something must have happened….Oh yeah Broncos won again. Say what you want about the kid at QB for Denver. First game against the best front 7 in the league, playing in a huge revenge game for the Panthers, kick off weekend and nationally televised game. Kid played well considering the situation. Knock him if you want but your teams dont have a defense anywhere near what the Panthers have and the sour taste they had

Cam is an amazing athlete but it’s all about him and he will never accomplish what Brady or Manning accomplished for that reason.

Not really… now they’ll be lucky to win 8 more games.🙂

It was obvious last night that defense misses Malik Jackson even more than I thought they would. Von was erased without Jackon’s presence pushing the line. That won’t be the last time either.

The homers will deny it but just watch. You’ll see!
