Former Colts kicker Cary Blanchard died on Tuesday at the age of 47.

Blanchard’s ex-wife told the Associated Press that he died of what’s believed to be a massive heart attack in Texas, but said that an autopsy has not been performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Blanchard kicked for five teams during his eight-year NFL career, but spent the most time with the Colts and had his greatest success in Indianapolis. He was named to the Associated Press All-Pro first team after the 1996 season and provided the margin of victory with a field goal against the Chiefs in the divisional playoffs following the 1995 season as the Colts advanced to the AFC championship game.

He made 165-of-214 field goals overall during a career that also saw him spend time with the Jets, Giants, Redskins and Cardinals.

Blanchard is survived by three children. Our condolences to his entire family.
