The Seahawks drafted Germain Ifedi in the first round of the draft as part of their plan to put together a more effective offensive line, but it looks like Ifedi is going to have to wait a while before he’ll be taking the field for a regular season game.
Ifedi hurt his ankle on Wednesday, forcing him out of practice a few days before the team will be taking on the Dolphins. The initial word on the severity of the injury suggests the Seahawks will be forced to find a new starter at right guard for that game.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Ifedi has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain that will keep him out of the lineup for “a few weeks.”
Veteran J’Marcus Webb is pencilled in as the team’s third tackle, but has experience playing guard with the Raiders and made a post to Instagram on Thursday morning that hinted he may be moving back there in Ifedi’s place.
