Report: Steelers, DeCastro finalize extension

The Steelers and Pro Bowl guard David DeCastro have agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday.

Prior reports stated that a deal was close, and because the Steelers don’t negotiate during the season, the deal comes just before the deadline.

DeCastro, a first-round pick in 2012, was a first-team All-Pro and went to his first Pro Bowl last season. He’s missed just one game over the last three seasons and plays a key role on what the Steelers hope will be the best offensive line they’ve had in several seasons.

Though locking up DeCastro was an offseason priority, the Steelers had previously picked up his fifth-year option for 2017 in case a deal was not reached.

Great News!!! And another solid move by one of the best, under the radar, GM’s in the league.

Only injuries kept this guy from being All-Pro as soon as he came into the league. I remember when he inexplicably fell in the draft, was so hoping the Texans could get him. Oh well, another good get by the Steelers.

This is very well deserved for DeCastro, and very reasonable terms for both sides. The Steelers keep taking care of their own.

I remember when Decastro dropped in the NFL Draft and fell right into the lap of the Steelers. Obvious great move to sign the all pro for another 6 years. Now take it to the next level and win the superbowl David.

How much bonus money does he get for gouging people’s eyes out?

Makes sense, they’ll need to score 40+ points per game to sniff victory due to their wretched pass rush and secondary.

2nd best guard in the division behind Kevin Zeitler. Just like the Steelers are the 2nd best team in the division.

Wah wah boo hoo. He had the fingers in the guys helmet but he did not gouge anyone’s eyes out. But I guess it is okay to grab and twist someone’s leg on purpose when you tackle them or hit someone in the head with their shoulder.

Funny how that 2nd place team in the division beat that 1st place team in the division…..in the playoffs……..in the home stadium of the 1st place team in the division…….yet again.

Zeitler is better, hands down. Best thing Castro ever did was take out Pouncey for a year. WHO DEY!

They scored 25 points per game last year and still won 11 total games with Ben missing 5+ games. Wretched pass rush and secondary did enough in the playoffs to win but it was the offense that blew it in the Denver game.

Zeitler and DeCastro are interchangeable. Both very talented. DEY better beat the Jets on Sunday.
