Sean Payton says his tweet means what you thought it meant

FOXBORO, MA - OCTOBER 13: Head coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints shakes hands with quarterback Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots following the Patriots 30-27 win at Gillette Stadium on October 13, 2013 in Foxboro, Massachusetts. (Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images) Getty Images

Sean Payton doesn’t tweet often.

And when he does, there’s no mistaking the message.

Over the weekend, the Saints coach posted a photo of the Tom Brady banner at Gillette Stadium, and it was fairly obvious it was a nod from the once-suspended for a year coach to the suspended Patriots quarterback.

And when asked about it during an interview on ESPN Thursday, Payton didn’t bother to try to say it was anything else.

“If someone is asking, then I don’t know that they’ve paid much attention to it all,” Payton said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “There aren’t a lot of people that can understand what Tom is going through. Certainly, I’m one of them.”

I think that’s what the kids these days call a mic drop, and it absolutely makes us wish Payton tweeted more often.

    Just lost respect for Sean.

Brady is 100% guilty. He cheated, lied and let down his team and city.
    Courts and judges (multiple) concurred.

Those that think Brady is innocent also believe OJ is innocent.

I was disgusted by the Bountygate and Incognito accusations – and how a modern business such as the NFL could have such things occurring within their walls.

After seeing what happened to Brady, I know question everything I thought I knew, and understand how each of these teams/coaches/players were railroaded.

How I would love for wiki leaks or anonymous to get into the NFL and tell us the “true” story!

Never did understand all the hoopla about ball pressures. What difference does it make ? Low air pressure on the offence equals the same advantage to the opposing defense.
Maybe they should allow all QB’s to adjust ball pressures to their liking because all players have different size hands. There would be hardly any bowlers if the all had the same weights and finger holes. Same for golfers. All golfers have to use the same size and weight golf clubs.

Even with Brady out, the Pats will still win the division.

  22. bigbits2 says: Sep 8, 2016 11:46 AM

Some things the NFL can count on, namely that fans are clueless.
The loudest people who say cheaters are the ones shown to have zero knowledge of what has happened.

Yes, the Patriots were caught filming hand signals that were visible to 70,000 fans, from the wrong location, and never denied it.
Because of that, owners wanted blood against the still pretty dominant Patriots.
The NFL and Goodell were caught lying incessantly through this latest ordeal to get what they wanted.
Fortunately for the NFL, few people paid attention to the details after the initial NFL disinformation campaign.

Apparently Roger Goodell’s Stalin-like show trials have convinced many on this forum. Just remember, Goodell only cares about power. First he came for the Saints, then for the Patriots, but the better you think your teams reputation is the sooner he will need to come knock them down to assert his absolute power. The truth will not matter. He can read the lips of a player with their back turned and prove re-writing physics by the fact that a star player trashed their old cell phone rather than selling it on craigslist and crossing their fingers of a hacker recovering nude pics of their wife. If I was a star player with a model wife, I would get a new iPhone every year and put a drill through the old one, because I can afford $500 a year for a new phone, and its not worth the $200 resale to have the chance some hacker recovers all my private pics, nothing to do with an investigation just common sense.

Maybe you should come to Boston for some education. I’m sure you heard, we got some of the best in the country. Maybe then you would learn what the definition of “fact” is. Brady was never and will never be proven guilty. A biased $5M investigation report couldn’t even get there. Just because you say fact, doesn’t make it true. I’m more inclined to believe nationally renowned scientists and those that have actually read all the details over you and the other pathetic fans who just scream guilty and won’t back it up with any facts.

Those who thing Brady is guilty: loser fans, Colts’ beat writers, Bart Hubbuch, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Ray Lewis, Stephen A. Smith, and Carson Palmer (umm, humidity and altitude?)

Those who believe Brady got railroaded: people with a reading comprehension level above the 3rd grade, nationally recognized sports writers (Florio, Peter King, Sally Jenkins, Dan Wetzel, etc.), renowned scientists, most NFL executives/coaches/players, etc. etc.

So the below isn’t good enough for you? You read the below and think the Pats believed what was in that joke article to be true and they are just toeing the line? Go home man. You are making yourself look silly….

“The New England Patriots have never filmed or recorded another team’s practice or walkthrough. The first time we ever heard of such an accusation came in 2008, the day before Super Bowl XLII, when the Boston Herald reported an allegation from a disgruntled former employee. That report created a media firestorm that extended globally and was discussed incessantly for months.

“It took four months before that newspaper retracted its story and offered the team a front and back page apology for the damage done. Clearly, the damage has been irreparable. As recently as last month, over seven years after the retraction and apology was issued, ESPN issued the following apology to the Patriots for continuing to perpetuate the myth: ‘On two occasions in recent weeks, SportsCenter incorrectly cited a 2002 report regarding the New England Patriots and Super Bowl XXXVI. That story was found to be false, and should not have been part of our reporting. We apologize to the Patriots organization.’

“This type of reporting over the past seven years has led to additional unfounded, unwarranted and, quite frankly, unbelievable allegations by former players, coaches and executives. None of which have ever been substantiated, but many of which continue to be propagated. The New England Patriots are led by an owner whose well-documented efforts on league-wide initiatives – from TV contracts to preventing a work stoppage – have earned him the reputation as one of the best in the NFL.

“For the past 16 years, the Patriots have been led by one of the league’s all-time greatest coaches and one of its all-time greatest quarterbacks. It is disappointing that some choose to believe in myths, conjecture and rumors rather than giving credit for the team’s successes to Coach Belichick, his staff and the players for their hard work, attention to detail, methodical weekly preparation, diligence and overall performance.”

The NFL certainly has some bad looks over Goodell’s tenure.

The BS cap penalties levied on the Redskins and Cowboys for not illegally colluding against the players during a labor negotiation, and treating an uncapped year like an uncapped year.

    Seriously mishandling bountygate.

Marijuana previously having harsher penalties than domestic violence.

And now, while having zero credible evidence, science, or competent investigation on their side…the NFL suspends it’s biggest marquee name for 4 games simply because the labor deal says the commissioner is allowed to if he pulls a reason out of his rear orifice.

I’ll always have a soft spot for the Saints.🙂

“It’s picked off by Porter…look out!… gets past Manning… and it’s Tracy Porter taking it all the way!! Touchdown New Orleans!”

It appears that 90% of the posters above have only a minisucile knowledge of the game. Having played and coached in 3 levels of the game excluding the NFL I am very aware of why only 1 NFL and 1 College team continues to dominate in their respective leagues. HS football attempts the same but feeder systems provide 75% of success year after year. Now the 2 teams that exhibit success SB’s and National championships are obviuos , the NE Pats and Alabama. But why? IT IS A SYSTEM ONE IN WHICH PLAYERS ARE PLUGGED INTO AND DO NOT FAIL. A team does not need a Brady, Breed, Rodgers, Sanders, Payton etc to be successful year in and year out. For evidence of this fact just look at the last 10 years of the NFL and college football, the system based teams dominant. Good players 5* players all over the landscape many many teams have these players but they truly live up to hype and win championships consistently. Meyers and Harbaugh are hard at work developing a system to plug and play the players only time will tell if they have the mental fortitude to continue on building or if they will burnout prior to success.

Take a few hours into the football life series and watch the BB story it is very enlighting what that man did with browns and how close he was to implementing a system in Cleveland without the tell to Baltimore I strongly believe it would have been fully implemented. Yes BB did not succeed at all his stops it requires an owner and GM who is willing to comit to the LT and Kraft did while the browns owners did not.

Continual success in any level of football requires a system and to you haters neither the pats or Alabama cheat to win championships it is not possible to win consistently without a system and cheating (however weakly defined spygate, boutygate, delategate does not provide the tools needed for continual success.

Don’t be mad Patriot Hater.🙂 Once you get to know us you’ll see we are not the arrogant fanbase that we’re made out to be.

We are just honest and tell it like it is. So when we tell you we are better than you at everything, we’re not saying it to be arrogant.

We’re saying it because it’s true…we really ARE better than you at everything. Would you rather us lie or be dishonest instead of preaching facts and truth?

The Patriots will give the entire AFC a 4 game handicap over a couple of ticks of air in this classic frame job. Other owners cannot explain to their fanbases why the Pats have dominated the for over 15 years. So the Colts (who the Pats would have crushed if they used pizza boxes or bricks as footballs), a team that has constantly been owned by the Patriots with the exception of the year they were caught piping in crowd noise (I love their circus trick lay last year….too funny). invent this ludicrous scandal.

Of course the other fanbases are going to hate. Dynasties are always hated. All I can say is watch out for TB12 week 5. You’ve been warned.

Bring the hate. It’s a direct result of being dominated

“I am a Seahawks fan. What was illegitimate about the Pats beating us in the Super Bowl besides our bad playcalling at the end”

Brady torching your secondary all through the fouth quarter.

And the reason that pass play was called was because your so called beast mode had been given the ball on 4th and 1 either 5 or 6 times earlier in the season and got the first dow a grand total of once. Had you run the ball there was zero guarantee you would have gotten the td.

Isn’t there like an audio tape that basically shows Greg Williams, you know, putting a bounty out their on the table. I mean I am not saying Payton necessarily should have been suspended for the entire season, but he certainly was aware of what his defensive coordinator was doing, and if he truly wasn’t he’s clueless, which is just the same as saying I don’t want to know what’s going on.

    C’mon Saints fans.
