Broncos’ Derek Wolfe wants Trai Turner fined after injuring neck against Panthers

DENVER, CO - SEPTEMBER 08: Quarterback Cam Newton #1 of the Carolina Panthers is hit by defensive end Derek Wolfe #95 and defensive end Jared Crick #93 of the Denver Broncos in the first quarter at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on September 8, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe injured his neck in Thursday night’s NFL season opener against the Carolina Panthers.

And he’s not happy about it.

Wolfe told Troy Renck of Denver 7 News that he believes Panthers offensive linemen Trai Turner should be fined and the whole Panthers front was taking questionable shots at Denver defensive linemen.

Their offensive linemen were targeting. No. 70 should be fined. Write that,” Wolfe said. “If they care about player safety they will watch what’s happening along the line. They were targeting (us). Just play hard.”

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took some major blows from Denver defenders as well during the game, though he said afterward that he didn’t believe he was being targeted by Broncos’ players.

Wolfe left the game in the second half and was listed as questionable to return. He was ultimately able to get back on the field.

Turner was called for a taunting penalty early in the game that brought him within one personal foul call of being the first player ejected under the newly adopted league policy. Whether Wolfe’s comments will force an additional look into the play that left Wolfe ailing remains to be seen.

Hat a joke after all the un-called head shots Cam took from the Broncos defenders. Unlike Wolfe, Cam didn’t call them out although he had every reason to do so.

For Denver to complain about about dirty hits is the pot calling the kettle black. Denver rams and saints are the dirtiest teams in the league.

All the Broncos do is headhunt and try to blow out people’s knees so nobody on that defense has any place to be crying about dirty plays.

This has to be a joke right+After his teammates repeatedly went for Cams head with their helmets?I liked the Broncos before the game, but they have very dirty players

The media is really downplaying the really obvious head hunting on Cam. Which leads me to believe that the NFL probably wont bother to do anything about it. If it was unintentional, why was it unintentional 3 times?

Wolfe is right, Panthers O-Line were playing dirty all night so any head shots Cam took were rightfully deserved. If you’re going to purposely target and injure our D-Line then your QB will be the one who feels the pain.

Funny to see one dirty team crying like a b@$ch when he gets hurt.

Too many little girls in the NFL in 2016. Just play the game and shut up. If you cant play the game then quit. I really miss the 70/80’s football that I grew up with.

  14. pastabelly says: Sep 9, 2016 8:20 AM

That was a dirty game on both sides. Newton was hit in the head multiple times (only one was called). Let the fining begin. Denver doesn’t have the high road here.

All the Cam wallnut lickers are only talking about the hits that Cam took. I guess everybody else just doesn’t count. Especially on the pathetic NFL Network, who by the way, were all wrong in the game predictions.

I don’t want to hear ANYTHING about the refs, who also let the Panthers O-Line hold Von Miller blatantly the entire game, and the complete BS call on 4th and 21 where they called Chris Harris Jr for an illegal contact penalty because he just happened to touch Kelvin Benjamin’s facemask. Meanwhile Benjamin (at 6’5″-240 +) was straight arming Harris dead in the face and bending his neck backwards. Benjamin is 6 to 7 inches taller than Harris, and about 50 lbs bigger and was molesting Harris at the time, and HE gets the call? That almost bailed Carolina out to give them the win. Crying about the refs is a losers lament.

    To recap:
You said you didn’t wanna hear any complaints about the refs, went on to complain about the refs, then said people who complain about refs are losers.

    Typical cheating donkey hypocrite.

As dumb as their Tebow loving fan base.
