Packers add David Bakhtiari to injury report as questionable

GREEN BAY, WI - DECEMBER 22: David Bakhtiari #69 of the Green Bay Packers blocks Troy Polamalu #43 of the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field on December 22, 2013 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Steelers defeated the Packers 38-31. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) Getty Images

As the Packers head to Jacksonville for a season-opening game against a Jaguars team hungry for a signature win, a player with a somewhat unusual signature may not be playing for Green Bay.

Tackle David Bakhtiari has been added to the injury report, with a back problem. He is listed as questionable.

Under the 2016 injury-reporting rules, questionable means that Bakhtiari is anywhere from 99.9 to 50 percent likely to play.

Certain not to play for the Packers is guard Josh Sitton, who was cut one week ago in a surprise move and who signed the next day with the Bears.

Bakhtiari is the starting left tackle, with Jason Spriggs as the No.2. It’s possible that, if Bakhtiari can’t play, someone like Bryan Bulaga would slide over from his starting spot on the right side.

He is feeling ill because he ate too much last night. Even with his Green Bay tolerance for eating.

The new rule on injury reporting was meant to be helpful – but it’s not, and it’s actually much worse.

Packers are thin as it gets across the oline. One injury and Rodgers will spend the afternoon on his back.

    Jags comfortably: 31-20.

You’ll never see the Packers use this as an excuse, the way Zimmer did with Bridgewater.

I guess Ted Thompson will suit up.

Good starters on that o-line but very little depth.

    OH NO!!!

Better send a 1st and a 4th to MN for Matt Kalil! Quick!!!

    LOL

Man I can’t wait til the vikings play them next week. Gonna sack Erin 9 times. Probably put him out for the year with a broken ego.

Dear Norse and other Vikings trolls:

You should know that Bakhtiari is a TACKLE. GB has three starting caliber OTs. Something you don’t have ONE of.

If that isn’t depth, I don’t know what it.

I think a tolerance for eating is normal for people. I guess you’ve chosen food-centric missives as your “thing,” huh?

Are you as boring in person too?

Could be. Better than having Kalil as the backup QB.

(BTW, that Lacy comment was pretty darn funny the first time I read it, last year. About 224 times ago. But, if that’s whatcha got, that’s watcha got (in my best Fargo/Brainerd voice.))

No no no no no. I have chosen Packers and Packer fans being fat as my ‘thing’, as you call it.

Come on steller, you are limited but even you are not that slow.

What you don’t know about football can fill a book. A big one. A book the size of your average beer belly on a sconnie male.

The packers have Bakhtiari (maybe) at LT. His backup is a rookie, Jason Spriggs.

Right tackle you’ve got Bryan Bualga and backing him up is another rookie: Kyle Murphy.

Is there some phantom starting caliber tackle hiding on the roster that the general public isn’t aware of? Or this yet another example of a Packer fan grossly overestimating the talent on that roster? I won’t keep you in suspense, it’s the latter.

Pray for health this season, packer fans because there are some serious depth problems on that roster. Perhaps one of the “owners” could alert your doddering general manager that free agency was instituted back in 1992.

    Look at it this way:

The Vikings choked in every conceivable way in their HOME playoff game.

They couldn’t score a TD. They had a 10 point lead but the defense couldn’t hold a two score lead.

Their star running back had 45 yards.

They missed a chip shot field goal.

When the going gets tough, the vikings leave whimpering, and their fans make excuses.

But he didn’t say “quarterback,” did he. He used a pejorative woman’s name for a grown man, which I don’t recognize.

Viking trolls, you especially included, like to assign feminine sounding nicknames to grown men. I can only surmise it makes them privately giggle.

Is that true? Does it? Does it cause you to privately giggle…..like a schoolboy? Because it’s kind of weird.

Atari, Pep, Fabio, Erin. I would bet a lot of money that none of them starts more than 10 games. Maybe Erin because he throws one yard passes when he gets hit a lot. Which he will.

He didn’t say quarterback? Really- that’s the best you can come up with? Can anyone other than the guy taking the snap be sacked? And who would that be taking the snap? Could that be Erin?

As far as “Erin” goes- I’m guessing you’re not playing dumb- it’s the real-deal.

Oh- and it makes me giggle all right. But nothing makes me giggle more than watching you get flustered and then messing your own bed.

Ah, pity the poor Vikings fans. Try as they might to get under the skin of Packers fans with their childish comments, they know they are fighting a losing battle because since 1961 their favorite team has been skunked out of winning even a single championship.

Here’s all you need to know about the Vikings. They lost their starting QB this year and after they spent three days at the Wailing Wall, they had to fork over a 1st round and 4th round pick to the Eagles to get a QB who spends more time in the trainer’s room than he does on the field, and who has never won anything either. And the Eagles thought they hit the Lotto because they already drafted Bradford’s replacement anyway. But get this — he’s an upgrade over Bridgewater and the Vikings would be better off with him if he could stay on the field. The problem is, he will join Tony Romo in the operating room before the season is over.

And if they couldn’t land Sam Bradford, they’d have been calling Kiln, Mississippi to beg Brett to come back and play for them. After all, even at 39 years old, he was still the best QB they’ve ever had.

As a Packers fan I’m a bit uneasy about this one. I think we’ll win but it will be a 4 quarter game for sure. An upset would not surprise me though.

  45. lukeshow says: Sep 11, 2016 8:50 AM

Vikings and packers posts are always filled with same people making the same dumb comments. The five “funny guys” on pft who rep my team (the Vikings) are not funny. On Vikings posts, the same thing happens the other way around.

    It’s annoying.
