The Ravens used a first-round pick on wide receiver Breshad Perriman hoping he could provide a vertical element to their offense.

It didn’t take long, if you don’t count missing his entire rookie season with a knee injury.

The first time Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco looked Perriman’s way, they connected for a 35-yard chunk against the Bills.

Perriman was matched up with Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore, but was able to get some separation and come down with the big play.

Of course, having Flacco back from his own knee injury last year was another bit of good news, as injuries derailed last season for Baltimore. But if Flacco can continue to find Perriman deep, along with finding veteran Steve Smith (coming back from a torn Achilles), the Ravens have a chance to make huge strides on offense.

They didn’t get to the end zone thanks to Perriman’s deep ball, but it set up a field goal by Justin Tucker for an early 3-0 lead.
