The Jets defense gave up their first big play of the season and lost their first starting defender to injury as well.
Safety Calvin Pryor has gone to the locker room in the first quarter at the Meadowlands. He was injured on a play that saw Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton hit C.J. Uzomah for a 54-yard gain. The Jets have not announced what Pryor hurt or if he’ll return. Rontez Miles replaced him in the lineup.
The Jets held the Bengals to a field goal after Uzomah failed to reel in an underthrown pass from Dalton that would have been a walk-in touchdown if it had been executed better.
The Jets lead 7-3, but lost a golden chance to add more points after a Marcus Williams interception ended Cincinnati’s second offensive possession of the day. A 24-yard pass to Matt Forte and a roughing the passer call got them three tries from inside the five-yard line, but they couldn’t score a touchdown and Nick Folk’s field goal attempt was blocked.
UPDATE 2:00 p.m. ET: Pryor has returned for the Jets, but the Bengals lead 10-7 after a 54-yard touchdown by wide receiver A.J. Green.
