Dez loses a touchdown catch upon review, Cowboys lead 9-7

Hey, remember that time everyone wondered if Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant caught a ball against the Packers in the playoffs a couple of years ago?

We got a less weighty version of that play in the first half of Sunday’s game between the Cowboys and Giants. Bryant went up high over Giants safety Landon Collins in the end zone and was ruled to have caught the ball in the end zone for Dak Prescott’s first NFL touchdown pass.

Replays showed Bryant didn’t have the ball secured when he hit the ground, however. The ball came loose and the 24-yard touchdown catch came off the board. There probably won’t be much lasting argument about whether he caught the ball this time around.

The Cowboys got a first down on a Prescott run, but the drive stalled and they had to settle for a third Dan Bailey field goal to take a 9-7 lead with four minutes left in the first half.

The catch rule is not as complicated as people think. It’s really not, and I’m not even that smart.

It was incomplete because his shoulder was out of bounds when he controlled it. If that happened in the middle of the end zone, it would have been a TD.

If the Cowboys receivers could catch, this would be a slaughter

If it keeps happening to the same guy – it’s probably not the rule that’s at fault.

How do these Giants get great receivers (Shepard scores) and the Eagles get slop for receivers?

But he thinks it was a catch, it wasn’t…neither was the one in the playoffs.
