The Eagles had an open roster spot after trading cornerback Eric Rowe to the Patriots and they filled it on Saturday by bringing back a familiar face.
Linebacker Najee Goode originally joined the team in 2013, spent all but one game of 2014 on injured reserve and then returned to the team after getting cut last September. He was dropped again this year as the team made its way to 53 players, but will be on the active roster for the opener after re-signing with the team on Saturday.
Goode has seen action in 29 games overall for the Eagles and has seen most of his time on special teams. The highlight of that action came when he recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown in last year’s victory over the Patriots.
Goode’s return gives the Eagles six linebackers after initially keeping four following the cut to 53 players last weekend.
