Keenan Allen carted off with apparent knee injury

Last year, Chargers receiver Keenan Allen missed half the season with a lacerated kidney. The Chargers will now have to see whether he misses even more in 2016.

Allen was carted off with an apparent knee injury late in the first half of Sunday’s season opener at Kansas City. The Chargers lead, 21-3, but the loss of Allen for anything more than the rest of the day would be very bad news for San Diego.

Before the injury, Allen had six catches for 63 yards. The Chargers have announced he’s done for the day.

If Allen will miss extensive time, the Chargers could bring back James Jones or add someone like Roddy White. There aren’t many great receivers currently available, and Allen’s production will be very hard to replace.

What a loss. This guy is a stud. He was destroying Peters. I’m a huge KC fan, and to say I am disappointed by the product on the field the first half would be a massive understatement. Hope Allen is back soon, fun player to watch.

Very unfortunate. Seeing him crying like that as he was carted off the field was heartbreaking. Hard worker, extremely talented player, was having a fantastic game, just as much as he was having a stellar season last year before the injury. One of the good guys who do not deserve it.

It didn’t look good, it was indeed very unfortunate.

Tyrell Williams is going to get a shot at some playing time. He is an interesting player.

Some guys are just prone to injuries. It just seems he has a season ending injury every season.

Isaiah Burse will probably be activated on gameday. James Jones couldn’t learn the playbook which is why he was cut
