Last year, Chargers receiver Keenan Allen missed half the season with a lacerated kidney. The Chargers will now have to see whether he misses even more in 2016.
Allen was carted off with an apparent knee injury late in the first half of Sunday’s season opener at Kansas City. The Chargers lead, 21-3, but the loss of Allen for anything more than the rest of the day would be very bad news for San Diego.
Before the injury, Allen had six catches for 63 yards. The Chargers have announced he’s done for the day.
If Allen will miss extensive time, the Chargers could bring back James Jones or add someone like Roddy White. There aren’t many great receivers currently available, and Allen’s production will be very hard to replace.
