Adam Gase: It’s a new day for Jay Ajayi

ORLANDO, FL - AUGUST 25: Ryan Tannehill #17 hands the ball off to Jay Ajayi #23 of the Miami Dolphins during first quarter action against the Atlanta Falcons during a preseason game on August 25, 2016 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. (Photo by Joel Auerbach/Getty Images) Getty Images

The Dolphins didn’t bring running back Jay Ajayi with them to Seattle for their regular season opener in a move that head coach Adam Gase referred to as a coach’s decision.

There was a report from Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald that Ajayi was upset about being pushed out of the No. 1 spot on the depth chart by Arian Foster, but Gase said Monday that this week brings a fresh start for Ajayi.

“We’re back to basically, he’s back in meetings, he’s back in the building,” Gase said, via the Herald. “We left him back. That was my decision. We’ve cleaned that up. We’ve moved past that. This is a new day for him today.”

Ajayi was left home in favor of Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams, both of whom see special teams time on gamedays. Ajayi doesn’t have the same responsibilities, so the team will need to make an overall change to the makeup of the roster if he’s going to be active.

Gase also said that wide receiver DeVante Parker, who is battling a hamstring injury, was “close” to being active, so there could be multiple changes to the offensive roster for the trip to New England.

If Devante Parker plays and Kenny stills learns how to catch a ball that is not thrown by Drew Brees the Phins will be very good.

Who does Ajayi think he is?

He’s done nothing, has hands of stone and is a known fumbler.

He should be waived immediately along with Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Dion Jordan!

Dolphin Fans should be excited to have this problem. This team looked great against Seattle in Seattle. Know it’s the first game, but they’ve got something to build on.

Foster played like a champion. Age meant nothing yesterday

I like Gase so far. No more coddling, no more favorites, no more ineptitude. He rightly holds players accountable and makes them earn their spot. When Ajayi showed displeasure Gase not only made him inactive, but left him in Miami in order to send a strong message and not poison the rest of the team with an improper attitude. That will help build a strong-willed team. The Dolphins played with more heart yesterday tan I have seen them do in years.

Foster looked good. He always looks good for about 4 games. Then the inevitable happens.

It’s a new day yes it is!…but it’s the same old Dolphins with the same old dysfunctional QB who just loves to collect excuses from adoring Phin fans…

Ajayi has not done anything in the NFL for him to be upset he couldn’t beat out a injured Foster. Ajayi better wake up or he will be out of the league in a year.

Sunday’s game at New England is a must-win, we cannot afford to start the season a possible 1-3 or it’s possibly season over in September again.

Hey, as far as Ajayi goes… I would rather have a Sore Loser than a player that takes a Knee during our Anthem. It is so hard to be a Dolphins Fan. It is always something with them. Finally look good on the field and then tarnish the day with stupidity. I am torn because I understand their right to protest, that is what Freedom means. However, this was the wrong time for it. For days I have read thousands of comments on other media forums claiming they are boycotting the Dolphins. So, if any “former” fans want to give me their Tickets or Dolphins swag, please let me know. Again, I don’t despise the Team, but I do the 4 players. Just like I Support the Police, but not the blatant rogue bad ones.

Ajay a known fumbler lol. That doesn’t sound too good, sounds like he should be questioned by Crockett and Tubbs.
