Broncos expect Demaryius Thomas to practice Wednesday

Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas hurt his hip against the Panthers last Thursday, but it doesn’t appear to be a great concern for the team moving forward.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Sunday that Thomas had an MRI on the injury Friday that was being sent out for a second opinion and Thomas didn’t practice on Monday, but coach Gary Kubiak said after the session that the team expects to have him back on the field Wednesday.

“He came out early, went back in and played well. I think he was sore,” Kubiak said, via the team’s website. “But he had a couple of days, he’s had some good treatment and could have practiced today if we wanted him to, but we’ll hold off until Wednesday.”

Thomas had four catches for 48 yards in the 21-20 Broncos victory. Assuming all remains well with his hip, he may be joined in the lineup by Bennie Fowler in Week Two. Fowler has missed the last month with an elbow fracture, but got in “pretty much a full” practice Monday.
