The Steelers won’t negotiate contracts with players once the season starts.
And with their season starting in a few hours, it doesn’t appear anything’s happening for linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Steelers and Timmons are not expected to reach a deal prior to kickoff, which means the linebacker will play out his contract and be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Because Timmons is counting $15.1 million against the salary cap, an extension could have helped both sides.
But now he’ll enter the market, along with a number of his teammates, including running back Le’Veon Bell, linebackers James Harrison and Jarvis Jones and wide receiver Markus Wheaton.
