No “schism” over Minnesota quarterback situation, yet

Vikings WR Stefon Diggs talks with Mike Florio about the team's season-opening win and its looming decision about whether to start Shaun Hill or Sam Bradford.

Seven years ago, when Brett Favre arrived for his first season with the Vikings, a certain NFL insider not named me reported that a “schism” had developed in the team’s locker room regarding the question of whether the team should go with Favre or (wait for it) Tarvaris Jackson. Now, with veteran journeyman Shaun Hill starting and guy-for-whom-the-farm-was-given-up Sam Bradford on the team, there’s no consternation among the players, yet.

“Not at all,” receiver Stefon Diggs told Monday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio and NBCSN. “There’s none of that throughout the team. . . . It’s all love in our locker room, no matter who’s playing or who’s not playing. We just want the best guy out there, doesn’t really matter who it is, and we rally behind each other. It doesn’t matter who’s out there we just got to support him.”

The Hill/Bradford dilemma currently exists because starting Teddy Bridgewater tore an ACL 13 days ago. So how is Teddy doing?

“He’s good, he’s in good spirits,” Diggs said. “We talked to him pregame and the night before the game he sent us a good message and we were out there playing for 5. So we tried to get him a win for the game and then we’re going to try to keep it going.”

Diggs did his part on Sunday, tying a career-high with 103 receiving yards in the win over the Titans. Whoever the quarterback may be, Diggs clearly is the top receiver, in only his second season.
