With the opening week in the books, veteran free agents become more attractive to teams since their salaries wouldn’t be guaranteed for the season, and that makes teams more likely to look at guys they may need for depth purposes.

That seems to be what’s happening in Miami.

According to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins are working out veteran linebacker A.J. Hawk this week.

The longtime Packers starter was with the Bengals last year, playing under now-Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

The Dolphins aren’t particularly deep at the position, but Hawk hasn’t been with a team since the Bengals cut him in April. The 32-year-old played in all 16 games there last year, starting 11.
