Maybe the reason the Steelers beat the devil out of Washington last night was because they had God on their side.

Via Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pope Francis was given an autographed football yesterday, signed by Steelers owner Dan Rooney, coach Mike Tomlin and some players.

The gift was given to the Pope by Saint Vincent Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Rome. It was a joint gift from the team and Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, where the team holds training camp.

Of course, being Argentinian, the Pope is more of a soccer guy, but it can’t hurt having him on their side.
