Washington brings back defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins

Cullen Jenkins, Tony Romo AP

Cullen Jenkins wasn’t gone from Washington long, and he likely knew it was going down this way.

The veteran defensive lineman is re-signing there today according to multiple reports, after a late signing during training camp and his release in final cuts.

As a vested veteran, they can bring him back now and avoid having to guarantee his salary, which they would have had to do if he was on the Week One roster.

The 35-year-old Jenkins was a solid player for the Giants last year, starting 13 games, and lends some depth for a defense that could use it after last night’s strafing.

Talk about a ridiculous loophole. You can void a vested veteran’s guaranteed money obligation by simply waiting a week.

“Yeah, we understand the spirit of what the rule was intended to do for veterans like you, Cullen, but instead, we’re going to hire you to play 94% of our season with no obligation on our part. Cheers, mate.”

yea not going to help that porous line–DeAngelo Williams is a good back but he looked like Bo Jackson running against that weak Washington front 7.

Kirk Cousins is who we thought he was. All turnoff season hype for the Redskins was ridiculous.

Funny, in previous posts, this site referenced the team as the Redskins. There must be an inconsistency in policy. Unless there isn’t.

Gonna need a whole lot more than that…

Besides, if Jenkins was that good still, why didn’t another DL needy team (ummmhmmm Cowboys) pick him up last week?

Good move I hope to see Lanier suited up as well. Get Ionnaidis off the practice squad and confer a guard or two, we need help.
