The Cowboys picked up a pair of sacks in their season-opening loss to the Giants and they’re adding a player to their defensive line in hopes of adding to their pass rushing prowess.
According to multiple reports, the Cowboys will be signing former Jaguars defensive end Ryan Davis. Davis was cut by the Jaguars as they dropped to 53 players earlier this month.
Davis had 11 sacks in four seasons with the Jaguars, which made him an effective situational pass rusher in Jacksonville and leaves him with more career sacks than any player currently on the Cowboys roster. That makes the reason for the Cowboys’ interest in his services fairly obvious and Davis should be seeing playing time quickly.
The Cowboys released cornerback Dax Swanson earlier this week, opening a roster spot for Davis to fill.
