Running back Arian Foster was back on the field for the Dolphins Thursday after sitting out Wednesday’s practice.

Foster was listed on the team’s practice report as being sidelined by a hamstring issue, although it sounds like injury prevention was the real reason why he sat out. Coach Adam Gase said that Foster may sit out Wednesdays all season as the team tries to keep him on the field on gamedays.

“That’s probably going to be a weekly thing with him,” Gase said, via ESPN.com. “We’re going to be smart as far as how we handle him from a practice standpoint. Going full pads, I don’t think he’s a guy who really needs full contact.”

Defensive end Mario Williams’ absence from practice continued on Thursday and precaution isn’t the reason for that one. Williams suffered a concussion last Sunday and remains in the league’s protocol a few days ahead of their trip to New England for Week Two.
