Officials sent Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor to the sideline to be examined for a possible concussion late in the third quarter of Thursday night’s game.
Taylor was hit by multiple Jets while trying to avoid a sack and referee Ed Hochuli sent him to the sideline. NFL officials were likely reminded this week to pay attention to such hits after Cam Newton remained in last Thursday’s season opener after taking repeated big hits.
E.J. Manuel came into the game to replace Taylor with 1:24 left in the third quarter. Taylor was back in for the start of the fourth quarter and was intercepted along the sideline by Jets cornerback Marcus Williams.
Per the NFL’s concussion protocol, an independent neurologist has to clear the player before he’s allowed to return to the game.
The Jets hold a 27-24 lead over the Bills.
