Yeezy cleats draw a fine for DeAndre Hopkins

Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins signed a deal with Adidas this offseason, which put him under the same corporate umbrella as Kanye West.

That meant Hopkins got to jump the line when it came to getting his hands on a pair of the Yeezy cleats that Adidas produced in a partnership with West. Hopkins wore the cleats during last Sunday’s victory, which likely made the company happier than it made the NFL.

Hopkins said Thursday that he received a fine from the league -- $6,076 is the minimum for first violations of the uniform policy -- because the shoes weren’t a solid base color. Hopkins said he won’t be guilty of a second offense unless West wants to step in.

“Only if Kanye wants to pay the fine,” Hopkins said, via the Associated Press.

Adidas might be able to help out as well. The cleats were released to the public on Thursday and the company’s website says they’ve already sold out.
