Greg Roman is out as the Bills offensive coordinator and a longtime Rex Ryan assistant is in.
According to multiple reports, the Bills have appointed Anthony Lynn as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Lynn previously held the titles of running backs coach and assistant head coach.
Lynn joined Ryan’s first staff with the Jets in 2009 as the running backs coach (he added the assistant head coach role in 2012) and made the move to Buffalo last season. Lynn also coached running backs with the Browns, Cowboys and Jaguars after breaking into the NFL coaching ranks as a special teams coach with the Broncos in 2000.
He’s interviewed for offensive coordinator openings in the past, but this will be his first chance to run the show.
His chances of success will look better if the defense stops giving up 37 points to the other team.
UPDATE 1:46 p.m. ET: The Bills officially announced both Roman’s departure and Lynn’s promotion.
