The Bengals renew their acquaintances with the Steelers this Sunday and the team will have one of their top cornerbacks back in the lineup for the matchup.
Cornerback Darqueze Dennard missed the season opener with an ankle injury, but he was a full participant in practice this week and doesn’t appear on the team’s final injury report of the week. That’s because there’s no longer a probable designation to use for players expected to be in the lineup.
The Bengals did a good job against Jets receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker in the opener and they’ll need to keep it up against Antonio Brown this Sunday. That’s not likely to fall chiefly on Dennard, but Markus Wheaton is expected back from Pittsburgh so there’s plenty of work to go around.
Tight end Tyler Eifert, who is coming back from foot surgery, is the only player ruled out for the Bengals because of injury. Cincinnati will also be missing linebacker Vontaze Burfict as he serves the second game of the three-game suspension handed down in the wake of his shot to Brown’s head in the Bengals’ contentious playoff loss to the Steelers last season.
