Demaryius Thomas doesn’t expect hip to feel great this weekend

DENVER, CO - SEPTEMBER 08: Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas #88 of the Denver Broncos makes a catch against cornerback James Bradberry #24 of the Carolina Panthers in the first quarter at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on September 8, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas got in a second straight limited practice on Thursday as he participated in about one-third of the reps while otherwise resting his injured hip.

Thomas injured the hip in last Thursday’s season-opening win over the Panthers and had an MRI that turned up nothing that rules him out of this weekend’s game against the Colts. Despite that, Thomas said Thursday that the hip is a concern when it comes to “stopping out of breaks, going down field, even taking hits.”

“It’s day by day. I ain’t gonna be feeling great. But it’s getting better every day,” Thomas said, via the Denver Post. “You pray about it, keep getting treatment, and hopefully by game day, you’re ready to go and nothing freaky happens.”

Bennie Fowler remains out of practice due to a fractured elbow, which would leave the Broncos with Cody Latimer, Jordan Norwood and Jordan Taylor as options in the event something freaky does happen this weekend.

Dam I hate when they say stuff like this….

Because I have him on 3 fantasy teams….

So do I play him or not?

Is he saying this to throw off the other team and he is in good/decent shape and will play a great game?

    Or is he truly hobbled?

I have had him in the past in some leagues, he does get these knick knack injuries, i stayed away from him this year because to be honest i dont know how consistent Trevor S would have gotten him the ball. He will play, the bigger question is can he be a difference maker all year with the QB.

You’ll never find a more maligned superstar than DT in the eyes of too many Broncos fans. I hate to see a guy like Thomas injured, but a large portion of the Denver fan face deserves to get a little dose of life without him. He is only a humble class act who hasn’t missed a start since his rookie year, and he is one of 3 WR’s in NFL history to post four consecutive 100+ catch/1,300+ yard seasons. Yet if your typical Broncos fan is whining or sniffling, 9 out of 10 times it is this guy that is the problem. Inexplicably, Thomas rivals guys like Bill Romanowski, Dale Carter and even Josh McDaniels on the internal vitriol meter.

I know this, if Thomas is down or compromised, the guy who will suffer badly is Trevor Siemian. Thomas is the rare superfreak who alters game plans and effects the game by his mere presence. The guy doesn’t even have to be targeted to have a tangible impact on every single Denver Broncos offensive snap.

Given the Colts performance last week, I would say the Broncos have nothing to worry about.

I guess Emmanuel Sanders isn’t an option huh? Since you fail to list him as one.

“I guess Emmanuel Sanders isn’t an option huh? Since you fail to list him as one.”

Sanders is already a starter. They are talking about candidates to fill in for Thomas on the other side.

Someone please tell DT he’s getting paid millions to play a physical sport. Shut your piehole, man up and go out and play your hardest. Sometimes DT acts like a mamas boy.

I know what they were trying to say, but you know how these journalists like to omit simple wording.

“With Sanders being the only healthy starter, the Broncos could be left with Cody Lattimer, Jordan Norwood, and Jordan Taylor as options this weekend if something freaky does happen with Thomas.” could have been written.

Elway should have spent that money on Osweiler.
