Dont’a Hightower doubtful, Rob Gronkowski questionable for Patriots

ARLINGTON, TX - OCTOBER 11: New England Patriots Alan Branch #97 of the New England Patriots, Dont'a Hightower #54 of the New England Patriots and Jamie Collins #91 of the New England Patriots celebrate after sacking Brandon Weeden #3 of the Dallas Cowboys during the first half of the NFL game at AT&T Stadium on October 11, 2015 in Arlington, Texas. It doesn’t look good for linebacker Dont’a Hightower’s chances of playing against the Dolphins on Sunday.

Hightower missed all three days of practice for the Patriots this week with a knee injury. Hightower was injured early in last Sunday’s victory over the Cardinals, but missed only a handful of snaps before playing the rest of the way.

The signs are less clear for nine other Patriots who have been listed as questionable. The lead name on that list is tight end Rob Gronkowski, who didn’t play against Arizona because of a hamstring injury and was a limited participant in practice this week. That’s the same way things played out last week when Gronkowski deemed himself “week-to-week” because of the injury.

Left tackle Nate Solder and guard Jonathan Cooper are also questionable after missing Week One. Cornerback Malcolm Butler, wide receiver Chris Hogan, tackle Marcus Cannon, defensive lineman Trey Flowers, guard Shaq Mason and linebacker Shea McClellin round out the group with that designation.

Cornerback Eric Rowe is the only Patriot ruled out. Rowe has an ankle injury.

Gronks not playing until Brady comes back in hopes that he can make it through the rest of the season.

Heal up boys, and we can try to get Rex fired in a few weeks. That his brother will become HC and then try to hire him back will be extra funny.

Patriots are probably the most overrated team not only in football but all sports. Yea they SQUEAKED out a couple Super Bowls but who couldn’t playing in that complete JOKE of a division paired with the dishonest, underhanded, Hillary Clinton style of Belicheat.

But the Neanderthals of the northeast pray to the horizon for this band of faux winners. Oh and the Bruins suck too, except for Chara and Tuukka.

I wasn’t aware that winning Super Bowls was a function of the division you play in. You know, since many WILD CARD teams have won it and all…

  6. plum54 says: Sep 16, 2016 5:55 PM

Yeah the most overrated team has been to 6 Super Bowls in the past 15 years winning 4. Also in the past 15 years the Celtics won a championship, the Bruins won a championship, and the Red Sox won 3 championships. We have been blessed to have 9 championship teams the past 15 years in New England.
    Jealous much, 12th man???

Now que up all the “Bostons so awesome” rhetoric we’ve all come to puke over. Yea it’s easy to make it to the super bowl over and over when the playoffs are a guarantee because your DIVISION is comprised of full blown losers. overrated overrated overrated

    @hawk

You are so right. Patriots fans wake every morning and thank God we are not hopelessly trapped in a division with the Rams and 49ers.

Easy division explains how you win 3-4 post season games…..
It worked so well for the Seachickens…you know, when they won the division at 7-9…

Hey 12thmangohawks – are you a comedian? They squeaked out a couple of SB’s? You do realize that the rest of the free world understands that a couple means 2, and the patriots have won 4. So thats a small discrepancy there. Also, when you win a ‘weak’ division you must win additional games to win a championship. And as far as wanting to puke over their 9 championships – I’m sorry your team is inferior. Maybe thats the source of your puking.

A real ‘Hawks fan would know better than to talk about weak divisions. The AFCE was the winningest division in football again last year. All divisions finish 12-12 against themselves so the measure of one division’s strength vs another’s is avg wins per team. Here they are by division for the last 10 years:
    AFCE 8.45
    AFCN 8.28
    NFCE 8.08
    NFCN 8.08
    NFCS 8.03
    AFCS 7.63
    AFCW 7.63
    NFCW 7.63

Fun Fact: In 6 games NE lost as many games in division (2) each of the last 3 years as they did in 10 to the rest of the league.

Fun Fact 2: In the Brady/Belichick era NE has a .769 win % in division and a near identical .754 outside of it.

Fun Fact 3: NE would be better off in the AFCN where in spite of only playing the 1st place team 2 out of every 3 years they enjoy a winning % of .800. Can only imagine what that % would be if they had played more games against the Bengals and Browns over the last 10 years

Facts are troublesome things for Pats haters.
