Eagles rule Ertz and McKelvin out for Monday night

The Eagles have ruled tight end Zach Ertz and cornerback Leodis McKelvin out of Monday night’s game at Chicago due to injury.

Earlier in the week, Eagles coach Doug Pederson described Ertz’s injury as a displaced rib and said he would be “week-to-week” in regards to a potential return. McKelvin suffered a hamstring injury in last week’s win over the Browns.

McKelvin’s injury leaves the Eagles with just three healthy cornerbacks, so they’re likely to make a roster move. Ron Brooks and Jalen Mills figure to see increased reps in Monday night’s game.

Brent Celek figures to start at tight end in place of Ertz.

Eagles don’t need to make a roster move. Both Jenkins and Watkins are former CB’s capable of playing the nickel. They may promote C.J. Smith from practice squad, but I don’t see them signing anyone.

Jaylen Watkins is listed as a safety now but he was primarily a CB his first 2 years. He’s started a couple of games on the outside too.
