Gerald McCoy fined for group sack celebration

Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was fined $12,154 by the NFL for a group celebration that was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during last week’s win over the Falcons.

McCoy was joined by teammates in celebrating a third quarter sack of Matt Ryan, and that’s the kind of thing the NFL’s No Fun Police are looking to stop.

“Right when that happened, I said ‘We’re going to get flagged,'” Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said. “Not preconceived at all, but by what they’re calling, the rule. Look, I don’t make the rules. Whether I agree with it or not doesn’t matter. They called it. They’re going to call it.

“It could’ve hurt us a lot more than it did. We talked to the guys about it.”

Make sure the players don’t have fun playing a game they love – Signed ; The Warden Roger Goodell

We live in an nfl world now where disrespect to flag and offending millions is okay but celebrate a sack after a clean play and fined. Just ain’t right.

It’s not hard to pretend you’ve made a play before. Work hard. Win a championship. THEN celebrate.

Just a guess, but you have never played a single sport in your life have you…..cause athletes should only celebrate winning championships…..that might be the most ignorant comment on this site….smh

It is not easy to get to the QB and make a sack. It’s a rare thing for a lot of individual players. Those guys deserve to celebrate all they want to.

When they celebrate it’s not like they are really rubbing it in to the other team. They are just celebrating their own individual accomplishment.
    Why can’t they?
    Let them have their fun.

The way in which a sack has to occur for it to be legal……deserves a team wide celebration

I didn’t know the game was so serious. I guess we as fans should stop cheering after every good play too. Only when our team wins a championship should we cheer

I almost quit watching football last year. Seeing this stuff makes me want to again.

So it was a group celebration and only one person got fined? Makes no sense?

Let them dance. It’s funny, fun, and celebrates accomplishment

You can argue about the rule until your blue in the face…The players knowingly break the rule and seem fine when it results in a team penalty…

Let’s hope we incur 4 more fines tomorrow. Go Bucs!
