Dont’a Hightower joins Gronk on inactive list

DeAngelo Williams, Dont'a Hightower AP

The Patriots are getting left tackle Nate Solder back in the lineup this week, but, as expected, they’ll play without tight end Rob Gronkowski for the second straight week.

Solder missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury, but practiced all week and said he was hopeful that he’d get on the field against the Dolphins. There wasn’t the same hope for linebacker Dont’a Hightower when Friday rolled around and the pessimism was well placed.

Hightower is inactive after missing the entire practice week because of a knee injury and getting a doubtful designation on the final injury report of the week. Sixth-round pick Elandon Roberts is active after getting scratched last week.

Guard Jonathan Cooper joins Gronkowski on the sideline for the second straight week while the Dolphins will have wide receiver DeVante Parker in the lineup for the first time this season.

One of the many reasons Belichick is a great coach. Fear of losing never makes him rush guys back. Not only does that let guys get healthy, it earns the respect of the players and builds the confidence of the players in each other.

When you’re right, you’re right. The Patriots have been hit with an inordinate amount of early season injuries. To make matters worse, the injuries have hit key positions where there’s not a lot of depth backing up.

The Pats just need to win one of the next three games and they will be fine….. Two out of three is even better….
