Jonathan Stewart is integral to the Panthers offense, because they want to run it and not just with Cam Newton.

But now, they’re not sure if he’ll be available the rest of the day or not.

Stewart is questionable to return to the game with a hamstring injury, after going to the locker room to get checked out. He was questionable entering this week according to the injury report, with an alleged ankle injury. but they never doubted he’d play.

The Panthers aren’t particularly deep at the position, with Fozzy Whittaker and fullback Mike Tolbert available behind him. Cameron Artis-Payne, who is potentially more of an every-down back type, is inactive.

The Panthers were able to reclaim the lead over the 49ers with their defense, with linebacker Shaq Thompson picking up a Carlos Hyde fumble and returning it for a score.
