The Chargers won big against the Jaguars on Sunday, but they also lost running back Danny Woodhead to a right knee injury.

Woodhead had to be carted back to the locker room in the first quarter of the game after taking a shot to the knee from linebacker Telvin Smith at the end of a short gain. Woodhead was called questionable to return initially, but he had great difficulty putting weight on the leg on his way off the field so it never seemed likely he’d be back.

Chargers coach Mike McCoy said after the game that Woodhead would have an MRI on Monday and that the team will hold off on making any announcements about his condition until the test is done.

Melvin Gordon had the first 100-yard rushing game of his career on Sunday and has looked good in both games this season, so Woodhead’s absence will likely add to his plate. Kenneth Farrow was the other running back active on Sunday and had four carries for 13 yards late in the 38-14 victory. Former Giant Andre Williams was inactive.

The Chargers also lost a defensive player to injury Sunday. Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that it’s believed safety Jahleel Addae fractured his collarbone and needs surgery.
