Saints cornerback P.J. Williams has been carted off the field at MetLife Stadium after taking a pair of shots to the head in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Williams took the first shot when he went low to make a tackle on Giants tight end Larry Donnell’s knee and took a blow to the helmet as Donnell went down. Saints linebacker Craig Robertson’s knee then hit Williams in the back of the head as Robertson came in to try to help on the tackle. Robertson immediately started waving for medical help after the play.

The training staffs for both teams immediately rushed on the field and spent a long time assessing Williams as players from both teams took knees and some could be seen praying. They eventually immobilized Williams before putting him on the back of a cart. Williams was seen talking to a trainer as they made their way for further evaluation.

We’ll pass along any updates and hope it looked worse than it is for Williams.

UPDATE 1:48 p.m. ET: The Saints announced that Williams is being evaluated for a concussion.

Just heard on TV and that he regained consciousness and was moving his fingers and toes….it was scary to see on TV and glad to hear he is awake and moving. Hope he has a speedy recovery!
