The Saints and Giants played a shootout for the ages last season, but things have played out very differently in Jersey this Sunday.
The Giants scored the only touchdown of the first three quarters by returning a blocked field goal 65 yards and led 10-3 through 45 minutes thanks to a great outing from their new-look defense. That defense finally broke early in the fourth, however.
Drew Brees hit Willie Snead for a 17-yard touchdown and Wil Lutz’s extra point tied the score at 10 with just under 14 minutes left to play. The score came at the end of a nine-play, 74-yard drive that saw Brees complete other passes to Snead, Brandin Cooks and Mark Ingram to move the ball down the field.
The Saints defense has forced three turnovers and sacked Eli Manning twice while the Giants missed a chance to add more points when Josh Brown missed a 53-yard field goal in his first game of the 2016 season. Safety Kenny Vaccaro had to leave the game in the third quarter, but has returned to the New Orleans sideline.
UPDATE 3:31 p.m. ET: Vaccaro is back on the field.
