Charlie Whitehurst headed to Cleveland

The Browns are signing veteran quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, his agent tweeted Monday night.

The Browns are already on their third quarterback of the season following injuries to Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown. Rookie Cody Kessler is the likely starter for this week and came into Monday as the only healthy quarterback on the active roster.

The Browns are Whitehurst’s fifth NFL team. A third-round pick of the Chargers in 2006, Whitehurst has made nine career starts and has also played with the Seahawks, Titans and Colts. He played in four games for the Colts last season and started five for the Titans in 2014.

For his career, Whitehurst has completed 55 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Angered at the imposter, God cast Charlie unto Cleveland for what will seem like an Eternity.

Not even Jesus can help this team, and that includes the clipboard holding kind.

Bills should have signed him. Would have immediately been the best QB on the roster (except Cardale Jones of course).

  22. dumbpollack says: Sep 19, 2016 11:03 PM

Let’s resign Johnny Football. I’d like to watch him out there while “half in the bag” again. What do we have to lose? I HATE BEING A BROWNS FAN!!!!!

  23. bartpkelly says: Sep 19, 2016 11:09 PM

Good for him. He has a chance to play the game he loves and get paid.

If there’s only one set of footprints on the field, it’s cause clipboard Jesus is carrying the team.

  25. uglydingo says: Sep 19, 2016 11:12 PM

You may laugh at Clipboard Jesus but he has saved his money because he didn’t know how long his career would last as a backup. Apparently he’s worth over $20M.

  26. titans12thman says: Sep 19, 2016 11:16 PM

You know what would be epic…if Whitehurst was the answer to all Browns woes and he got them to the Super Bowl this year…It would be fitting to have the Browns win the big one and be saved by a guy named clipboard Jesus

Can he heal all 80,000 terminally ill Browns fans in attendance?

  31. dickshotdogs says: Sep 20, 2016 12:26 AM

Cheer up, Browns fans. It’s going to get better. In three weeks The New England Patriots and the greatest quarterback to ever play the game are rolling into town. At least you’ll be able to see some great football by a team you despise, yet respect. It must crush you folks to wonder what might have been if only Art had kept the greatest coach of all time, too. I feel sorry for Browns fans, too.

  35. playedthegame32 says: Sep 20, 2016 12:59 AM

Ohhhhh Browns!!! Sit back, watch Went and think about the other QB you could’ve had. You passed on Roethlisberger too. Haslam needs to hire real football men to make football decisions. Until he does that, the debauchery will continue….SMH

  36. pittsburghdamned says: Sep 20, 2016 1:15 AM

I always wondered what happened to that silly mustache-head

  37. eoyguy says: Sep 20, 2016 1:16 AM

Haslam was told by a homeless man that with the way things were going, the Browns could really use Jesus’ help. Thats when the light bulb went off in his head and…well…the rest will be forever etched in Browns lore. I’m sure of it.

  38. jtylert says: Sep 20, 2016 2:47 AM

Does Cleveland really think ol’ tight whitey is gonna be a better option for them at QB than Terrell Pryor?

All these Jesus talk, for a moment I thought we were getting Tebow. Thankfully, it is just Whitehurst.

  41. natelan says: Sep 20, 2016 10:39 AM

As a Chargers fan, all I can say is wow, Cleveland must be desperate for an arm.

  42. yourunclerico says: Sep 20, 2016 11:33 AM

Bolts should have traded their current back up for a certain wide receiver… .

  43. omeimontis says: Sep 20, 2016 11:41 AM

Johnny Football should count his blessings because he would be on the injured list if he wasn’t cut by the Browns. The Browns may need 16 quarterbacks to finish the season.

  44. RegisHawk says: Sep 20, 2016 12:35 PM

Give him 3 days…he’ll get over it.

  45. wiscobball says: Sep 20, 2016 1:41 PM

  48. omeimontis says: Sep 23, 2016 12:35 PM

dolphins should win this game. Cleveland will stay on its path to 0-16 record. Playing Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Baltimore twice doesn’t help.

  49. slick3 says: Sep 24, 2016 3:14 AM

What does Tebow have to say about all of this ?
