Jets get back to work Monday without Brandon Marshall

ORCHARD PARK, NY - SEPTEMBER 15: Brandon Marshall #15 of the New York Jets is tackled by Stephon Gilmore #24 of the Buffalo Bills resulting in putting Marshall out for the game during the first half at New Era Field on September 15, 2016 in Orchard Park, New York. The Jets had a few days off after beating the Bills last Thursday night, but they got back to work on Monday.

Most of them, anyway. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was not on the practice field with his teammates.

Marshall hurt his knee during the win over the Bills when he was dragged down awkwardly by the facemask at the end of a catch. Marshall returned to the game and the Jets said he was fine when it concluded, although Mike Florio reported Sunday that Marshall did hurt his MCL.

Florio also reported that the Jets expect Marshall will be able to play against the Chiefs in Week Three, so keeping him off the field early in the week may be designed to make sure he’s fresh in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon. The Jets won’t issue their first practice report of the week until Wednesday.

Left guard James Carpenter, who hurt his calf against Buffalo, and wide receiver Eric Decker were on the field but without helmets as the Jets kicked off their practice week.

You’re quoting the boss, but who is he quoting?

Tough loss if he is out…. The Jets have been looking really good so far. I was actually hoping they would provide some competition.

Glad he is okay. Very dirty tackle if anyone watched the injury.

I fully expect Marshall will play. Nothing wrong with taking it easy on the older players every now and then.

Reporters on the Jets beat have said he is fine and will play. Expect Marshall not to practice this week but he will play.

I wonder if his polar opposite hurt the same knee.
