Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones spent the first week of the regular season dealing with an ankle injury from the summer and then spent last week dealing with an aggravation of the injury in their opening loss to the Buccaneers.
The ankle didn’t appear to cause Jones any trouble for most of Sunday’s 35-28 win over the Raiders as he caught five passes for 106 yards and his second touchdown of the season. Jones did miss the final minutes of the game, although the ankle apparently wasn’t the reason for his absence.
Jones injured his calf during the victory, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team does not believe that it is a serious issue.
That’s a good thing for the Falcons, who have seen their offense take a turn for the better over the first two weeks of the season. They’ve put up 59 points in two games and having Jones helps their chances of continuing to find enough success to balance out a defense that’s allowed the same number.
