Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory will be suspended for the first 14 games of the season.

Gregory, who is currently serving a four-game suspension that started in Week One, has decided not to appeal a subsequent 10-game suspension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

There were multiple incorrect reports two weeks ago saying that Gregory had won the appeal of the 10-game suspension and would return in Week Five. That is not the case.

So now Gregory, who dropped in last year’s draft over character concerns, will miss at least 14 games and the bye week before he is eligible to return in Week 16. Realistically, it’s hard to imagine that he would return in good enough shape to contribute immediately, and so it appears that this will be a lost season for Gregory.
