Lions running back Ameer Abdullah has been part of a successful ground attack over the first two weeks of the season, but there’s a chance they’ll have to go without him against the Packers in Week Three.

Abdullah injured his foot in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Titans and didn’t return to the game. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that initial tests showed Abdullah suffered a sprain, but further evaluation of the injury is expected.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that Abdullah will go to North Carolina to see Dr. Robert Anderson for a second opinion on Tuesday. Anderson is frequently consulted by players in the NFL and other major sports in the wake of foot injuries, so any discussion of Abdullah’s availability for the Packers game will likely wait until that visit is done.

Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington are the other running backs for the Lions, who have picked up 5.4 yards per carry through the first two games of the year.
