Report: Ansah suffers dreaded high ankle sprain

Ezekiel Ansah, Jay Cutler AP

Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to the Titans, NFL Network reported Monday.

The report didn’t offer a timetable for Ansah’s return, but high ankle sprains can take several weeks — or even longer — to heal.

Ansah left on the first series of Sunday’s game. He’s become one of the Lions’ best players, so his potential absence for an extended period is signficant. Ansah had a career-best 14.5 sacks and went to his first Pro Bowl last season.

7 weeks minimum if they let him heal properly

That sucks. Detroit has the talent to go all the way. Something always holds them back whether it’s coaching or injuries…

This is the same NFL Network that reported that Eric Ebron had suffered a devastating leg injury (torn ACL) during training camp. They were wrong on Ebron and probably wrong on Ziggy.
