Three Eagles raise fists during national anthem

Three Eagles players raised their fists during the national anthem before tonight’s game in Chicago, in the NFL’s latest anthem demonstration.

Eagles defensive end Steven Means, strong safety Malcolm Jenkins and defensive back Ron Brooks all raised their fists. The rest of the Eagles, and all players on the Bears, stood at attention.

Jenkins said last week that the Eagles had a demonstration planned. Eagles coach Doug Pederson said he could get on board with it if the entire team locked arms, as the Seahawks have done, but other Eagles said they wouldn’t participate in an anthem demonstration.

During the preseason, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick created a national debate when he sat down during the national anthem. He later modified his stance and now kneels during the anthem, and several players around the NFL have joined him. Other players have raised their fists. Players have said they view the anthem demonstrations as a message against social inequality and police shootings.

What endorsement contracts do Steven Means, Malcolm Jenkins and Ron Brooks have? Publish the companies that are paying these men to be their spokesmen. Let’s see how long those endorsements last.

Wow, 3 players raised their fists in the air during the national anthem??? Hmmm… maybe the 5,000 victims of black on black murder isn’t really the problem. Maybe the less than .001% of blacks being killed by white cops is a bigger problem in the communities… said no one ever.

Good for them. Were they protesting the person that ambushed the cop in Philly the other day and fired on her 18 times at close range, then shot and wounded a few others including another police officer, and shot a couple in a car, wounding both in the chest and killing the woman?

  9. duffelbagsports says: Sep 19, 2016 9:10 PM

I do every time. I also tear up a lot during it too.
Enough so that my four year old has to ask why

  15. duffelbagsports says: Sep 19, 2016 9:22 PM

Police said they were responding to a call of a vehicle abandoned in the middle of the roadway. In video from officers’ dashcams and also from a helicopter. four officers are seen responding as Crutcher holds his hands up in the air and walks away from officers.

In the video taken from the helicopter, a male is heard to say, “That looks like a bad dude too. He might be on something.”

Crutcher is then seen to fall to the ground.

Police said Crutcher did not respond to their commands and that one officer used an electronic stun weapon on him and another shot him. He was coming home from college (some bad dude).

This is all a misunderstanding. Someone said, “Raise your hand if you have ever been part of an organization that excludes people based on their race.” They just so happened to say it when the anthem was playing…

I know what the brand on at least one of those player’s arm means. It’s funny, if you ask him why he joined, the response would be the same as what you could find on any Stormfront or KKK or Skinhead website. Preserve heritage, we are being attacked, blah blah blah. Hate is hate.

To be fair, I don’t hate the guy. I actually root for him. I want to have a conversation about race relations. But it needs to be a two way conversation.

He was not a “Pastor” and was shot only after disobeying orders and then reaching into his vehicle with left hand. There were some public comments attributed local pastors and maybe that’s where you got that. See Police video. Not saying he was a good or bad man, just saying he did not follow orders (why?) and after non-compliance reached into his vehicle (and immediately tased then shot). Police are then seen (from helicoptor) treating the vehicle as if more people may be inside before addressing the “victim”.

I’d respect a lot of you people more if you just admitted it.

  82. Mo Pro Babble says: Sep 20, 2016 4:41 PM

@dukeblue12, tell me again who cares about what.

    From the DOJ reports,
during the 2012/2013 period, blacks committed an average of 560,600 violent crimes against whites, whereas whites committed only 99,403 such crimes against blacks. This means blacks were the attackers in 84.9 percent of the violent crimes involving blacks and whites. This figure is consistent with reports from 2008, the last year DOJ released similar statistics. Perhaps not coincidentally, that was the year Mr. Obama was elected president.

Interestingly, we find that violent interracial crime involving blacks and Hispanics occurs in almost exactly the same proportions as black/white crime: Blacks are the attackers 82.5 percent of the time, while Hispanics are attackers only 17.5 percent of the time.

Some observers argue that what causes the overwhelming preponderance of black-on-white over white-on-black violence is “chance of encounter,” due to the fact that there are five times as many whites as blacks in the American population. However, there are only about 30 percent more Hispanics than blacks, yet black-on-Hispanic violence is almost as lopsided as black-on-white violence. This suggests blacks may be deliberately targeting both whites and Hispanics.
