Browns bringing in center Austin Reiter with Cameron Erving injured

Browns center Cameron Erving was taken to the hospital after Sunday’s loss to the Ravens and spent the night before being released on Monday morning with a pulmonary contusion.

Erving’s status for future games will be handled on a week-to-week basis, leaving the Browns with some shuffling to do on the offensive line. Right guard John Greco will take over at center with Alvin Bailey stepping in to Greco’s old spot, which makes sense given Greco’s past experience at the position.

It does leave the team short on backups, something that they are remedying on Tuesday. Multiple reports have┬áthe team signing Austin Reiter off of the Redskins practice squad and Reiter’s agent told Mary Kay Cabot of that Reiter is on his way to Cleveland.

Reiter was a 2015 seventh-round pick out of South Florida and spent last year on the practice squad. He made the initial cut to 53 players this year, but was waived last week before rejoining the practice squad.

When you can’t start in the NFL, you come to Cleveland.

Cleveland: two games into the season and already imploding. #FactoryofSadness

If only they had an All Pro center… oh wait they did.

They let them leave, despite Erving underwhelming.

Might still have Josh McCown too, since the hit that sidelined him came up the middle.

But you know the smartest guys in the room with tons of cap space, wanted to do their thing.

So now they have their thing… it’s called a much crappier team.

Their guy, Cody Kessler is up next behind this line.

When you are signing a center off of the Redskins (Im a fan) practice squad, things are not going well.
