Jets wideout Brandon Marshall: “Don’t rule me out until Sunday”

Jets coach Todd Bowles previously said Brandon Marshall was fine, but it turns out the veteran wide receiver is nursing an MCL injury and is in jeopardy of missing Week 3.

Brandon Marshall wasn’t on the practice field Monday, but he said after practice he still hopes to be on the field this week, after suffering an MCL injury against the Jets.

“The school I come from is, don’t rule me out until Sunday. I need all the way up until pregame warmup to see if I’m good to go,” Marshall said, via Daniel Popper of the New York Daily News. “Right now, I feel stable. I feel good. And I’m going to work my tail off to get out there and be out there with the guys.”

Marshall said he didn’t have an MRI and that “structurally, we feel like I’m OK.” He was walking without a limp Monday, and Jets coach Todd Bowles said he’d have a better idea of where his star receiver stood when Wednesday’s injury report came out.

But he also admitted he feared it was far worse last week, and that he was “blessed” to be able to play after last week’s awkward fall, which saw his left leg dragged underneath him.

“I felt my knee and my leg just twisted in so many different areas and different ways. So I not only thought my knee was messed up, but I thought my foot and everything was pretty much gone,” Marshall said.

It looked that way too, but for the moment, he’s holding out hope.
