The Falcons haven’t had first-round pick Keanu Neal in the lineup for the first two games of the season, but there’s a chance the safety could be on the field against the Saints next Monday night.
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said that the plan is for Neal, who had arthroscopic knee surgery in late August, to practice with the team on Thursday for the team’s first full practice of the week.
“We will see how it goes,” Quinn said, via the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “We are optimistic but we will have to see how it goes Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the three big work days.”
Kemal Ishmael made 15 tackles, including a key fourth-down stop, for the Falcons in their victory over the Raiders, so they could stick with him for another week should Neal not be up to playing after a few days of practice. Either way, it doesn’t seem long before the Falcons will get some reinforcement in the secondary.
